Knitting

Lots of coloured yarn skiens

My interest in knitting came from my Grandmothers.  Both loved to knit and made me gifts during my childhood.   Whether it was doll sweaters, toques, scarves or a blanket they were all cherished.

I tried to learn knitting when I was young but it didn’t take.  Skip ahead several years and my interest started.  Not sure if I needed another hobby, something to do when I relaxed or if higher powers were steering me in the direction.

Down to the local Micheals I went to buy what I needed.  Starting with size 6(4mm)and 7(4.5mm) needles from Boye and several Bernat yarn that stood out to me.  Also grabbing a knitting pattern book to get started. Then realizing I did not knowing what I was getting myself into.

Got home and started reading the patterns, not understanding the terms at all.  Thanks to Google and YouTube I learned what the terms meant and how to start knitting.

Through a lot of trial and error, I have managed to create projects that I was able to give away as gifts to family and friends.  Some of my most favourites are baby blankets, scarves and torques.  Especially the baby blankets as I make them for firstborn, sorry to the siblings that follow.

I started creating baby items as friends around me started to have little ones. Then it moved to the family and me running out of time to get my little ones theirs made.  The one item my little ones did get were toques, living in western Canada with our winters you need toques all the time.
